As part of the Austrian Robotics Workshop 2021, the Instrumentation & Measurement Chapter of the IEEE Austria Section presented the Best Student Paper Award to the contribution “Evaluation of educational robotics activities with online simulations” (authors: Georg Jäggle, Richard Balogh, Clemens Koza, Wilfried Lepuschitz and Markus Vincze), a publication of the RoboCoop project (co-funded by European Union funds (ERDF).
On December 9, 2020 Dr. Andreas Deutschmann-Olek has received the Dr. Ernst Fehrer-Preis for his cutting-edge research work in the area of modeling and control of optical pulse amplifiers for ultra-short laser pulses.
Since 1982, the Dr. Ernst Fehrer Award has been awarded yearly for outstanding technical research achievements with practical applicability at the Technische Universität Wien.
Congratulations on this outstanding achievement

At the 6th International Workshop on Recovering 6D Object Pose (ECCV 2020) the BOP Challenge 2020 Award for the best method on dataset RU-APC has been awarded to Kiru Park, Timothy Patten, Markus Vincze for their work on “Pix2Pose: Pixel-Wise Coordinate Regression of Objects for 6D Pose Estimation”.
The journals of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) award best paper prizes for 1-3 outstanding contributions which were published in the three years preceding the IFAC World Congress. In 2020, three of these awards were won by researchers of the Complex Dynamical Systems (CDS) group at ACIN. We would like to congratulate the authors for this major success!
The Control Engineering Practice Paper Prize Award 2020 was awarded to
The Control Engineering Practice Paper Prize is awarded for outstanding contributions to the practical application of control techniques and advanced control theory, documented in a paper published in Control Engineering Practice. At each IFAC World Congress the prize is awarded to the authors of three selected papers published in the journal in the three years preceding the Congress. The prize funds are provided by the publisher of Control Engineering Practice, Elsevier Ltd.
The Mechatronics Paper Prize Award 2020 was awarded to
The Mechatronics Paper Prize is awarded for outstanding contributions to the field of mechatronics documented in a paper published in the IFAC Journal Mechatronics. At each IFAC World Congress the prize is awarded to the authors of three selected papers published in the journal in the three years preceding the Congress. The prize funds are provided by the publisher of Mechatronics Elsevier Ltd.
Kiru Park presented the paper “Pix2Pose: Pixel-Wise Coordinate Regression of Objects for 6D Pose Estimation” (K. Park, T. Patten, M. Vincze) at the 5th International Workshop on Recovering 6D Object Pose, organized at ICCV 2019, October 28, Seoul, Korea.
The BOP Challenge 2019 (Benchmark for 6D Object Pose Estimation), whose goal is to capture the state of the art in estimating the 6D pose, was part of this workshop and the methods Mr. Park described in his paper won an award as the best performing method for two datasets, namely YCB-Video and Rutgers Amazon Picking Challenge.
Sergey Alexandrov was awarded the Best Paper Award at 12th International Conference on Computer Vision Systems for the paper “Leveraging Symmetries to improve Object Detection and Pose Estimation from Range Data” (S. V. Alexandrov, T. Patten, M. Vincze).
