Automation and Control Systems

The aim of this course is to acquire basic knowledge of industrial automation systems. Starting from the classical automation pyramid, the individual components applied within automation systems are examined. Here, the focus lies on the programmable logic controllers as the typical industrial controller. Additionally, the topics of reliability and safety aspects in industrial automation, communication systems, as well as industrial robotics are covered.


The lecture notes will be provided starting with the semester.

Examination modality

The examination is carried out as oral exam (20 minutes per student).
